n 2012, after two decades studying psychology, spirituality, and working in human services, I faced a challenging situation that none of my previous skills and education could resolve.
A friend kept nudging me toward forgiveness, but I was hesitant. I liked it in theory but I could never make it work in practice.
I searched online for a forgiveness ‘how-to’ and while there was a lot about why one should forgive, aside from “you just do it” directives, there was nothing about how.
Realizing I needed a step-by-step guide and that I was on my own to make one, I had the intuition to look beyond mainstream forgiveness definitions (pardoning, ceasing anger, having compassion, and letting go) and look directly at forgiveness’ constitution.
From this perspective everything flowed forth. A logical path came to me and once completed, I felt peaceful and free for the first time in three years.
Initially it was only a personal win, but two years and many meaningful conversations later, I clearly saw that a lot of people were where I had been: they had something they wanted to forgive and they lacked a practical path. Upon seeing the need for a clear and effective forgiveness paradigm, How to Forgive was born.
My teaching style is experiential, emotion positive, and relatable. I believe that God’s love/universal love/unconditional love/divine love/whatever-you-prefer-to-call-it, is accessible to anyone who wants it and developing the skill to use it is one of the most spiritual things a person can do. https://daramckinley.com/
