Doing Change Right and the ROR: Return On Relationships with Dr. Loubna Noureddin
In this episode, Roxanne and guest Dr. Lubna Louraden delve into the human side of change and its management in organizations. They explore why change often fails, the cost of mismanaging it, and discuss the current pressing change of returning to work post-pandemic. They also touch on Elon Musk's perspective and the importance of understanding team needs.
Key Points
- Organizational change often fails due to a lack of attention to the human side of change, with managers desiring more consideration for the impacts and emotions of those affected.
- Effective communication and genuine engagement with employees about changes can lead to more successful outcomes and prevent the high costs associated with failed change initiatives.
- The shift towards requiring employees to return to the office post-pandemic needs to be balanced with individual employee needs and preferences to avoid loss of talent and to maintain productivity.
Quote: “We cannot continue to force change through a firehose; people are choking. It is truly time to stop and consider what specifically do we want to change and what is the priority?” Dr. Loubna Noureddin
We have all experienced so much change in the last few years due to the pandemic. We have been in a fairly constant state of flux and have had to learn how to adapt pretty quickly to whatever was happening at the time. Now that many have or are moving toward returning to work in person, we’re again in that state of change. On this episode of Authentic Living with Roxanne, we’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Loubna Noureddin to share her unique perspective on change and offer tips on how leaders can make it less stressful and transition more successfully when necessary.
This was such a great interview packed with so much interesting information about workplace conflict that we decided to turn it into a 2-part series. Be sure to tune in again next week for part II.
