Functional Medicine and the ROR: Return on Relationships (Part II) with Dr. Sandra Scheinbaum
In this episode, Roxanne converses with Dr. Sandra Scheinbaum about the role of functional medicine in health consulting. They discuss the holistic approach it offers, the interplay of physical and emotional health, and the benefits of health coaching for employee productivity. The conversation also covers how to find a functional medicine coach and the value of self-reflection and meditation in shaping company culture.
Key Points
- Functional medicine provides a personalized and holistic approach to health by considering all aspects of a person's life, including physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual, and dietary factors, to address and improve overall well-being.
- Health coaching, as part of functional medicine, plays a central role in personalizing care by actively listening to clients, guiding them through lifestyle changes, and helping them to connect with additional resources or specialists as needed.
- Senior leaders and executives can benefit their organizations by integrating functional medicine and health coaching into their wellness programs, which can lead to increased employee well-being, productivity, and a positive company culture focused on caring for individual needs.
Quote: “88% of adult Americans are considered metabolically unhealthy. Those are shocking statistics, and it’s increasing.” Dr. Sandra Scheinbaum
Functional medicine is a more patient-centred approach to healthcare that focuses on identifying the cause of the disease and not just treating symptoms with pharmaceuticals. It looks at the patient’s history and gathers information to try to find the underlying cause of the illness. Functional medicine is, thankfully, becoming much more mainstream. On this episode of Authentic Living with Roxanne, we welcome Dr. Sandra Scheinbaum to share her experience and thoughts on why functional medicine is a better solution for combating chronic disease and lowering healthcare costs.
